ASSURANCE OF UNBIASED REFERRALS

Transylvania County Child Development provides unbiased referrals and will NOT recommend one program over another.

If the parent has a specific childcare preference, parental choice is honored. The parent counselor will provide the parent with information specific to that program. A quality checklist will be given and the parent will be encouraged to visit the program before enrollment. If an opening is not available, the parent counselor will inform the parent of the option to place their child on the waiting list and offer information on other child care programs if needed.

If the parent does not have a childcare preference, the parent counselor will discuss all childcare options and ensure at least three referrals to maximize parental choice. Specific program information will be provided for each referral such as cost, hours, ages served, ratios, capacity and licensure status.

A Child Care Options brochure listing all legally operating programs is given or mailed for all referrals to help parents make informed choices about quality childcare.
