This program has been awarded 18 More At Four slots.

The More At Four Pre-Kindergarten Program is a State Funded Program that provides services to 4 year olds in North Carolina who meet specific eligibility requirements.

Priority for enrollment is given to 4 year olds who will be entering kindergarten in the fall and who are currently unserved or have never been served in any pre-school setting. Eligibility criteria includes family income, health status, identified special needs, parent education, parent employment, family composition, housing stability and minority status.

This program builds on existing early childhood education service delivery systems in each community and may be located in pubilc schools, Head Start Programs, and non-profit or for-profit 3, 4 and 5 Star licensed private child care centers. A 3 Star facility must commit to upgrading to a 4 or 5 star rating within a year. High standards are required for the curriculum and environment components of the pre-kindergarten program, as well as staff credentials.

This program is free to qualifying families and operates on the county school schedule. Care may also be available for hours beyond the school day.
