When the provider is related to all but two of the children in care, licensure is not required. If more than two children in care are unrelated to the provider, licensure is required. Acceptable kinship between the child and provider is defined in law as persons related by blood or by marriage.
A Care for Two notebook is housed in the Child Development receptionist area. Parents must read and sign a disclaimer before accessing this list. Information on the Care for Two providers will not be given over the phone.
The notebook includes a basic health and safety checklist, criminal records check, and health questionnaire, along with hours of operation, description of program, ages served, plus information on the caregiver’s experience in working with young children.
It is the parent’s responsibility to check references and to verify any information in the notebook, and the credibility of each provider before selecting a child care option.
