PROCEDURE FOR LISTING

CHILD CARE PROGRAMS

All child care programs that are regulated and have current licenses, are listed with the Child Care Resource and Referral at their request. This includes part-day/part-time programs.

Programs that are legal but unregulated (church operated, part day, summer camps, etc) are listed upon provider approval.

Legal non-regulated providers caring for children in their home are not listed in the Transylvania County Child Development Resource and Referral Brochure. This information is available upon request at the agency. Parents must read and sign a disclaimer before accessing this list. Information on the Care for Two providers will not be given over the phone.

Transylvania County Child Development makes referrals to all legally operating child care programs and does not recommend one facility over another. Parent Counselors will offer general information about programs to help parents make informed choices about quality child care.

In instances where serious complaints are received on listed programs, the Child Development program may suspend the program from the referral list until the complaint is investigated and resolved. If a complaint is substantiated, a provider or facility may be removed from the referral list. After consultation with the investigating party, Transylvania County Child Development may exclude the program from the referral list, cease new enrollments, and remove children enrolled through the Subsidized Child Care Program if a present danger exists.
