REFERRAL PROCEDURE

Transylvania County Child Development makes referrals NOT recommendations to all legally operating childcare programs. Parents are offered information to make informed choices about what best meets their needs.

Parents will be educated on various types of child care and quality indicators. The parent counselor will provide at least three referrals per family to maximize parental choice. Specific program information will be provided for each referral such as cost, hours, ages served, ratios, capacity, and licensure status.

A Child Care Options brochure listing all legally operating programs is given or mailed for all referrals. The brochure also provides a quality childcare checklist, licensure information, financial assistance guidelines, family resources and Transylvania County Child Development Policies and Procedures.

Parents are encouraged to visit sites and to place their child/children on waiting list, if appropriate.

Transylvania County Child Development is a public agency which provides services without regard to race, color, sex, age, religion, political affiliation or national origin.
